Yes. It's supported by small banner ads, which never appear on the game screen. There are no in-app purchases.
Does it need an internet connection?
No. Stockfish runs on your phone, so you can play anywhere. The connection is only used to load ads.
Which engine does it use?
Stockfish 16, one of the strongest chess engines in the world. It's free software under the GNU General Public License v3; the licence and a link to its source are in the app's About screen.
What does "odds" mean in chess?
Giving odds is an old way for a stronger player to make a game fair: they start without some of their pieces. Chess Odds lets you do this to Stockfish, so you can beat a world-class engine.
